William C. Cathers III

William W. Cathers, III, of Doylestown, died Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2015. He was 76.

Born in Doylestown, he was the son of the late Maude Holcombe and William W. Cathers, Jr.

Bill graduated from Central Bucks High School, class of 1956 and married Doris Jones in 1959.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Bill was a career truck driver for the former North Penn Transfer in Lansdale, eventually retiring from UPS in Willow Grove. After retirement, he enjoyed driving part-time for local owner/operator Tom Bennett and R.L. Smith in Danboro.

Mr. Cathers was a lifetime member of the Doylestown Fire Company. He lived a life of service to his country and community. In addition to serving more than 60 years as a volunteer fire fighter, he was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of the Golden Eagle and the Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows Lodges, as well as a generous donor to many charities.

Bill’s love for people was evident. Friends and family considered him a professional conversationalist who never met a stranger. He especially enjoyed meeting and talking with friends at both the Doylestown and Plumsteadville Wawa’s, where he was given the unofficial title of “Greeter.”

He loved going places and seeing things. Bill shared his fondness for history and fascination with how things are made with his children, grandchildren and friends at every opportunity. He was also an avid country and blue grass music fan and NASCAR race fan.

Bill will be missed tremendously by his four children: Brian L. Cathers, his wife, Patti, of Hamburg; Pamela J. Tsang, her husband, Allan, of Virginia; David B. Cathers, of Doylestown and Glen R. Cathers, his wife, Alyssa, of Lehighton; his 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brother, C. Harry Cathers; and his former wife, Doris, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Charles Conner

 

      Charles was born in Pittsburgh on 7/14 1938.  Died of natural causes on  6/08/2016. Charles was in the class of 56 but left before graduation to join the Marine Reserve. He returned later to graduate with the class of 1957. He met his wife Priscilla also a member of class of 57 in 1957.  He married Priscilla  January 30, 1960 and was married for 56 years.  He lived in Phoenixville, Pa. From 1970 until 2013 and then moved to Missouri.  Survived by, wife Priscilla; 3 sons Michael (Lori – Spouse, Samuel & John – Grandsons), Stephen, and Andrew (Linda – Spouse); 1 brother - Richard.

He enjoyed traveling, history, jokes & comedy, feeding & watching birds, trains, loved his country.

Kilby A. De Witt

Kilby passed away on October 31, 2011 in Madison, WI. For many years she served as Geriatric Administrative coordinator at The Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA in Los Angeles. In June of 2008 she retired and moved to Madison, WI. to be near her son.

After high school graduation, Allan attended Penn State University and Nancy graduated from Abington Memorial Hospital. We married in February of 1960. We have 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. We have 3 great grandchildren (soon number 4 will be born)

            We had 2 restaurants in Doylestown and Perkasie area until 1979. Then Allan worked at Pine Run and Telford Lutheran Community Center as facility director until 1996. Nancy worked at Grandview Hospital in Sellersville for 15 years and also worked at a couple of nursing homes in the area.

            We moved to Oak Island, N.C. in the fall of 1996 and we keep very active doing volunteer work through our church. We prepare meals for meals on wheels in the Oak Island area on the weekends. Allan does handyman work for people in our area who are unable to do for themselves. Nancy works as a volunteer with the local food pantry and the care committee at our church.

            We enjoy our life in North Carolina. We like to travel when time permits. We are happy to have our daughter, son in law, 2 granddaughters and their families here on Oak Island since the spring of 2006. They are getting settled and are a joy to have here. Our 2 sons and their families are still in Pennsylvania, so we will be traveling to Pennsylvania occasionally.

Robert J. DuBree Sr.

Robert J. DuBree Sr. of Quakertown died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Grand View Hospital, W. Rockhill Township. He was 70.

Robert owned and operated the Village Woodshop, Quakertown for more than 25 years before retiring. Previously, he owned the Lake House Inn, Perkasie, and worked at the former Plan Print Co.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert and Ethel (Langmer) DuBree. He was a 1956 graduate of Central Bucks High School and had attended Drexel University.

Mr. DuBree was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run, Perkasie. He was a past president of Deep Run Jaycees; charter member of Deep Run Valley Sports Hall of Fame; member of Toastmasters International and had been active in both Cub and Boy Scouts.

Surviving are his sons, Robert J. Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of North Wales; Jeffrey F., address unknown; Mark D. and his wife, Angela, of Jenkintown; his daughters, Linda Pack of Quakertown; Brenda M. Workmeister and her husband, Kevin, of Whitemarsh, Md.; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Kenny, Kris, Kim and Karen; brothers, H. Ron and Charles; and his sister, Dee Maxson.

Joan Ehrenfeld Pierman

Joan Ehrenfeld Pierman, 80, passed away suddenly, surrounded by her family, on
Monday, October 21 at Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.

Born in Milroy, PA, Joan was raised in New Britain, PA. She was a 1956 graduate of
Central Bucks High School in Doylestown. She moved to Lambertville, NJ with her husband,
Bob, 55 years ago. They owned and operated Foster Wright Cranor Florist in Lambertville from
1984-2006. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville and was also
an active member of the Lambertville Ramblers football organization for many years.

Joan was a loving mother to her four daughters and a wonderful mother-in-law. She was
“Mom-Mom” to her ten grandchildren and she loved spending time with them more than
anything in the world. She enjoyed baking, dancing with her husband, and cheering on her
grandchildren at their sporting events.

Joan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bob Pierman; her daughters, Carol Shurts
and her husband Bill, Yvonne Zampetti and her husband Lou, Barbara Tumler and her husband
Brian, and Christine Pierman and Jim Fry. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren,
Brittney, Jason, and Jeffrey Shurts, Louie, Mathew, and Michael Zampetti, Brooke and Briana
Tumler, Robbie and Danny Rose, and her step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Fry. In
addition, she is survived by her sister, Shirley Teschner, brother-in-law, Jim Pierman, and many
nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her infant daughter, Brenda. Joan is the
daughter of the late Charles Ehrenfeld and Maude Ehrenfeld Winner, and step-daughter of
William “Pop” Winner; and sister of the late Eleanor Reynolds, Clem Ehrenfeld, Jean Stumpff,
and Louise Peters. She is also the sister-in-law of the late Charles and Tom Pierman.

Virginia Fahie Fly

Mrs. Virginia M. Fly of Wyalusing, Pa. passed away Monday, June 22, 2020, at the Guthrie Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa. She was 81.

Born in Doylestown, Pa. on July 4, 1938, Virginia was the daughter of the late William Anthony and Alice Lorraine Terrell Fahie. She graduated from Central Bucks County High School, Doylestown, as a member of the Class of 1956. She received her LPN at the Perkasie VoTech School, and later attended Delval College. She received her associate and RN degree at the Bucks County Community College.

Virginia honorably served in the United States Air Force in Charleston, S.C. In Doylestown, Virginia was a nurse at the Pleasant Manor Home for children for 13 years before moving to Bradford County.

She retired in 1998 as the Nursing Supervisor at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington, Pa. She also served in the Army Reserves in West Chester, Pa. for 11 years.

She married her husband, Richard James "Dick" Fly of Doylestown. He preceded her on March 1, 2015.
