Mary Anne (Leatherman) Darrah of Doylestown went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Wesley Enhanced Living, surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law.

Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Mary (McIlhatten) Leatherman.

Mary Anne graduated from Central Bucks High School in 1956. She was a bookkeeper for her family's food market, Leatherman and Godshall, later starting her own business, Bookkeeping Etc.

Mary Anne was a pillar of her church, community and family. She was a disciple of Christ, devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful friend. She lived her life serving others with kindness, love and compassion.

As a member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church for 64 years, she served on session, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, confirmation class, and youth group, and was a deacon, elder and usher. Mary Anne was always engaged with her community through volunteer activities at Doylestown Hospital, Hospice and Habitat, to name a few. She cherished and nurtured her relationships with family and friends. She was like a sister, second mother, and grandmother for many.

Her gentle spirit will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew her and were touched by her life well lived.

Mary Anne is survived by her daughters, Deborah Allison (Thomas) of Alexandria, Va., and Diane Elizabeth (Robert) of Pennsburg, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James H. Darrah.

Janice Martin Harris

Janice Martin Harris of Morris Township, N.J., passed away in her home on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. She was 79.

Janice was born Nov. 25, 1937 in Doylestown, to the late Fred F. Martin and Emily Peiter Martin.

She lived in Doylestown until moving to Huntington, N.Y. in 1978, and then finally resided in Morristown, N.J. in 1994.

Janice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert N. Harris. Together they raised four children, R. Jeffery Harris, Carey Harris Abraham, Andrew Harris, and Eric Harris; and have eight grandchildren, Meghan E. Harris, Martin A. Harris, Hannah S. Noe (Abraham), Rebekah M. Abraham, John A. Harris, Dana N. Harris, Jack B. Harris, and Dillon H. Harris.

Janice loved working in the church and was especially dedicated to the less fortunate. She also worked with the Board of Presbyterian Women, and the Circle 5 group. Additionally, her work with the clothing bank was a mission very close to her heart. She worked cheerfully and tirelessly until her health issues prevented further service. The clothing bank was recently renamed and dedicated as "Jan's Closet."

Janice will always be remembered as a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend. Always thinking of others first. "To know her was to love her."

 

 

 

Joseph Martyn

 

Joseph Martyn, of Plumstead Twp., passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 at his residence. He was 82.

Born in Chalfont, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Anna Martyn.

Joseph served in the Army Reserves from 1959 to 1969.

Joseph was employed as a maintenance worker for the local school district.

In his free time, Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, reading and TV.

Joseph is survived by a son, Thomas Martyn (Ann Marie); 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Stephen, Thomas, Jennifer, Christine, Anthony, Ashley, Steven, Ray, Tiffany, Crystal; 4 great grandchildren, Emily, Isaac, Nicholas, Logan; and a sister, Renni Nichols.

Judith Maxwell Schwartz

 

Judith Hurley Schwartz of Chalfont passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at her residence. She was 76.

Born Aug. 28, 1938, in Upper Darby, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Viola Maxwell.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Leopold J. Schwartz; her two daughters and their spouses, Cindy and Rick Crandall of Jamison, Debbie and Dale Tozer of Curwensville; three grandchildren, Corin Crandall, Devon and Lauren Tozer; and a brother, Bill Maxwell of Souderton.

She graduated from Central Bucks High School and was employed for many years at the Department of Agriculture. She also was a volunteer Girl Scout leader, worked at Woolworths, the Central Bucks School cafeterias, and finally as a volunteer for Doylestown Hospital.

Mrs. Schwartz was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

In her free time she loved gardening, doing arts and crafts, and traveling/camping with friends and family.

Barbara McClintock Jacobe

Barbara Jane McClintock Jacobe, 71, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at her home in Oil City.She was born April 19, 1938, in Philadelphia, and she was a graduate of Central Bucks High School, Class of 1956.She was known not only for easily making friends wherever she went but also for her deep dedication to her family and those she befriended.She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, L. Howard "Jake" Jacobe.Many will remember her as a manager of Appalachian Trail Outfitters in Doylestown. Barbara also served many years as a Girl Scout Leader and as an election board volunteer.During her retirement, she and Jake enjoyed hiking throughout the U.S. while traveling in their motor home.Barbara served as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, N.J., and was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Oil City.She also was a member of The Presby Pacers, a Relay for Life team of the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her son, John H. Jacobe and his wife, Jill, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; a daughter, Kathy L. Goodwin and her husband, Deane, of Oil City; a sister, Kathy Cornell and her husband, Alvin, of Holicong; and a brother, Bill McClintock and his wife, Anne, of White Stone, Va. She also is survived by two granddaughters, Alethea McLaughlin and her husband, Nathan, of Oil City and Rebecca Bish and her husband, Curtis, of Oil City; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Bish, Katelyn Bish and Alex McLaughlin; and several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and family members.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Goodwin.
